In conjunction with this exhibition, On October 12th, Pose 2, Mr. Maxx Moses will present a 1 hour lecture titled “IDENTITY, The power of writing your Name”. This new exhibition is designed to educate visitors about the vitality of living folk art traditions found in Pennsylvania today. It will feature learning opportunities for all ages and asks visitors to consider the question, “How do your artistic traditions make a difference?”

The exhibition features over 30 master artists from every corner of the state, and represents a wide array of traditions. The art and programs demonstrate that although many traditional arts are rooted in century old practices, they are meeting the needs of those living in very modern times. To see a full schedule of scheduled events visit www.folkartPAtoday.org

The revered, and highly respected, young instructor, Reza Moazezi has finally manifested his dream, to have his own school. The way of No Way a 5000 square foot, Martial Arts Studio in Woodland Hills Ca. The School’s philosophy is based on self- discovery through Martial Arts. Reza’s Aesthetic vision and life’s philosophy was a natural fit with the creative instincts of Mr. Maxx Moses. Together they conceptualized a wonderful project that Mr. Reza himself titles “Humble Violence”. The project was so well received that Mr. Maxx Moses is designing the clothing line for the studio as well!

This summer I was invited to click my heels three times and Say there’s no place like home as I was chosen to paint at the Kanrocksas Concert! This 2-day festival was jam packed with amazing musicians like the flaming lips, Kid Cudi, the black keys, Muse, Eminen and many more.

The visual artist consisted of a host of 25 painters from around the country who collaborated on a awesome mural and painted live with the bands throughout the night… it was amazing I got a chance to meet and paint with cats I’ve seen in magazines from the 90’s Kansas City … Ill be back!

The BBOY BBQ is an annual Hip Hop Art festival that centers on Aerosol Art while celebrating and partaking in all the elements of Hip Hop. This event was not created but developed naturally in the backyard of Aerosol Artist Pose 2 and Designer, Ella Isaac’s home in 1997. At the time they just wanted to create an atmosphere for all their creative friends where they could eat some good food, listen to good music and share their dreams… “ But in the midst of us just having a good time something magical happened and it was all so unexpected.“ Someone went into the basement pulled out some cardboard and began doing windmills; the D-jay had everyone bouncing while others began to kick lyrics it was awesome. People arrived and fell in sync to the rhythm of the beats and the smell of corn, fish and barbeque chicken on the grill. There was art painted on the walls while black books and photo albums were being viewed. It was an exchange of creative ideas, good people and the promise of a creative future… It was so powerful I knew it had to continue.
By word of mouth, the following year 200 people were stuffed into our back yard celebrating what we now call the “BBOY BBQ”. Amongst the crowd were some of the best D-Jays, Emcees, Breakers and Writers within Philadelphia. It was like a Hip Hop Family reunion so it had to continue, but not in my back yard!
Three years later the BBOY BBQ remerged directly across the street from my house at the Hawthorne Recreation Center and Park, equipped with swings and slides for kids and a big basketball court for B-boys to dance and plenty of outdoor space for live painting.
With the assistance of Stef Tah Taz, of Beat Society, D-Jay Botany 500, Meca Isa and Ella, we transformed a backyard barbeque into an Hip Hop festival that hosts nearly 1000 attendee’s annually attracting people from New York, Washington DC and Boston.
Since its inception the BBOY BBQ has operated as a self- sustaining event. However over the year’s corporations and non- profit organizations such as Wholefoods, Sunkist, Red bull, Critical Massive and the Philadelphia Mural Arts department have contributed greatly to our growth and development. These organizations covered nearly all of our costs helping us to maintain a free community event that caters to all.
The beauty of the BBOY BBQ is that it is free for friends and families to celebrate the traditions of Hip Hop while local businesses are encouraged to sell and promote their products that relate to the culture.
Throughout the years our event has expanded to three cities and this year to four, as we are proud to announce that we are expanding the event overseas to Copenhagen Denmark. For 8 Years the FUA Crew has hosted the BBOY BBQ in Rochester NY, and this year plans to do it in the abandoned subway tunnels which will hold space for nearly 200 artists! For two years a collective of artists have hosted the event in San Diego CA, and this year it will be hosted at the “Space For Art” which has an awesome outdoor/indoor facility with a built in stage and gallery. In 2010 and 2011 the 84 Crew hosts the BBOYBBQ in west Philadelphia and this year we will be celebrating its 10th year which promises to be one of the best yet!
Our strong sense of community, collective cooperation and pure love for what we do is the reason why the BBOY BBQ stays alive. Always celebrating the essence of Hip Hop in its natural state… free!

Oct of 2008 The American University of Dubai invited Albus Cavus a New Jersey Based Artist Collective to do a workshop and collaborative mural with its art students. Once we arrived on campus I knew we where in for a treat. Faculty members Roberto and Mike were excited to have us and were giving us a tour of the campus along with a few very enthusiastic students who couldn’t wait to have us bless their campus with our style.

Peter Krisko headed up the workshop with a power point presentation, that enlightened faculty and students about the various projects albus Cavus’s has done throughout the United States, its ideals about public space, and how this interaction between artist and community enhances and beautifies our lives.

After a thorough tour of the campus we decided which wall we would work on but first it was time to get the students in sync with what we do, and introduce to them our distinct method on how we create. Customarily Chor Boogie and Myself (Pose Two) create from within, meaning we have no preconceived plan of what we are going to create before we create it. We trust, flow and integrate intuitively as painters, as artist and as human beings. We have come to a point of understanding the importance of the process: interacting and engaging with the moment at hand, seizing those opportunities and flowing with them…aliveness!

We had no doubts that this awesome group of students would be able to flow with us but most of these students never used spray paint, our number one tool! Aware of this fact we decided to first allow the students an opportunity to play, get free and express on some canvass boards. What was supposed to be a few moments of trial and practice turned into hours joy and pure expressionism. Although these students never touched a spray can before their individuality and collective spirit shone through and they were ready to collaborate with us.

This project offered Albus Cavus a great opportunity to work with photographers, painters, sculptures and enthusiast who a helped create a wonderful mural that captures the spirit of Dubai the energy of its youth and its vision to create a beautiful city with powerful art.

Public Artists to Explore and Transform Public Spaces in Dubai

(Washington, DC / Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 4 -18, 2008) – American public artists will visit Dubai this week to create innovative public art projects that promote community engagement, civic pride and artistic creativity of local residents. Albus Cavus is an artist collective that reinvents and revitalizes public spaces for better service to community. The scale of the planned Dubai projects range from small murals and sculptures to large parks that are designed to foster imagination and playfulness.

Albus Cavus representatives Peter Krsko, Jason “Chor Boogie” Hailey and Daniel “Pose 2″ Hopkins will travel to Dubai in the first two weeks of October to meet with community members, artists, students and innovative professionals to learn about demand for public spaces. Dubai’s fast-growing metropolis offers an opportunity to be on the cutting edge of community art projects. The three will present their artwork and initiate art ventures that will have positive effect on neighborhood life. This model follows Albus Cavus’s celebrated art projects in New Brunswick, NJ and their recent tour of the East Coast, called the Concrete Alchemy Tour.

The artists grew up in America’s urban centers, surrounded by ill-designed public spaces that alienated the young residents. Their art of graffiti has become a direct response to grey and decaying landscape. Though illegal, graffiti became successful in improving visual state of many neighborhoods ; and, more importantly, graffiti art had a positive impact on community development. Today, the artists Pose 2 and Chor Boogie represent a novel approach to public arts with their advanced technique of painting with aerosol. Their award-winning work is featured in every major city around the United States. Albus Cavus manages Raritan River Art Walk in New Brunswick NJ and is in process of opening additional art parks in Newark, NJ, San Diego, CA and Washington, DC.

In Dubai, a fast growing modern city, public spaces play an important role. What was neglected in American urban development during their boom in early 1950’s must be brought to light, emphasized and embraced in this cosmopolitan and culturally-rich metropolis. “As the city grows, Dubai has a tremendous potential to become an inspiration for global public art and user-friendly urban design that avoids negative public spaces,” said Peter Krsko. The group’s schedule of this two-week trip is packed with workshops and art demonstrations. A series of art happenings organized in collaboration with The Jam Jar, a Dubai-based gallery and community arts center, will explore the arts in public sphere through discussions in creative settings that will involve interactive mural and multimedia presentation with Dubai artists.

Albus Cavus, a non-profit organization utilizes arts to:

Promote development of strong and healthy communities by involving the residents in projects that result in improved public, gathering and common spaces.

Design and develop novel interactive and participatory art projects in public space.

Reinvent existing public spaces that are underutilized, neglected and abandoned.

Cultivate healthy development of young residents through practical experience in complex projects that encourage team work and democratic process.

Support artistic excellence by providing necessary consulting services, supplies and mentorship to emerging artists.
